About Farm in the City
The Farm in the City Summer Program will run for three weeks and is open to students ages 7-18 from southern Minnesota. The students have the option to participate in one week programs or multiple week programs, up to the entire 3 week time period. Each week has a global focus towards educating students about agriculture, including agri-science, agri-business and sustainable agriculture, and includes the following activities:
- Daily Activities
-
- Gardening
- Personal web design
- Science lab experiments
- Weekly Activities
-
- Field trips (1-2/wk)
- Capstone project presentation (1/wk — parents invited)
The shared activities from week to week ensure that each student has a similar experience regardless of what week they have enrolled in. In addition to these common activities, each week will have a different overall objective so students enrolling in multiple weeks will continue to have new experiences. How the content is delivered is up to the individual instructors, who are content experts in their fields, but the program has general themes and objectives for each week.
